[ He's a little heated - but she's the sky, sun, moon, stars, planets, galaxy, universe. She's everything to Scott - that wasn't an exaggeration - and if he lost her, well.
[ she freezes up at the sound of her name. not that it's really her name that does it, but the tone. the emphasis he puts on it. when her eyes find the video screen again all she sees is scott looking...different. serious. it's not all that often she sees him set his jaw like that, and in some ways it calms her down. slows her down enough that she can see the way his face changes when he starts talking again.
and not focus on the way her chest starts to tighten, her eyes start to burn. she has to bite the inside of her cheek to keep her face as straight as she can, but even then it probably doesn't work all that well. ]

not completely. not now. ] That's not fair. You know that's not fair. [ breathe, allison. breathe. ] What about you? You're hurt, you're exhausted, these aren't just normal dogs... what am I supposed to do if you die?
[ when her voice cracks over the you she has to look away from the video, use the back of her hand to wipe at the corners of her eyes. the disappointment she feels in herself coils tightly in her gut, and she stares up at the ceiling for another few moments as she pulls herself back together. ]
[ He picks up things she doesn't think he notices - the pounding of her heart, strong even through the video feed. The sparkle of tears lining her eyes, the changes in breath. He notices, and it's like getting hit with a bus, straight through the heart. His mom told him to say what was on his heart all the time - in different ways, in new forms, in poetry, on trees, in a tattoo - but maybe he missed the mark here. Allison didn't want to hear it, apparently, and that stings something awful in itself. She didn't want his emotions.
He fucked up. He didn't lie, but maybe he shouldn't have told the truth.
He hurt her. She's crying and she's trying to be brave, and it's his fault. Scott lets out a sigh, sinking down to sit while resting against the door. The last thing he ever wanted to do - the first thing he promised he'd never do. He hurt her by saying how he feels.
Right. Not doing that again. ]
Don't - [ He shakes his head. He just keeps apologizing, he can never get anything right with her. He's hopeless and in love, and being in love is killing him on the inside. ] You're - you're right, as usual. [ a faint smile. ] That wasn't right. I mean, it was right, but I shouldn't have. I'm just tired, like you said.
[ And bloody and broken, and waiting for a chance to heal. A hand wipes over his face, covering his mouth for a moment before he goes to speak. ]
If you stay safe, I'll come up and meet you, okay? I think that's fair...
[ if she wasn't currently more concerned with getting scott somewhere where she could watch him and keep him safe, she might have seen the look. she might have noticed that he's obviously taking something else from this talk, coming to some conclusion that is not at all where she wants him to be. but she doesn't see it - or she does, but she doesn't really understand what's going on behind his eyes.

[ her brow furrows a bit at the if you stay safe, but she can't see any other option. not when she's in no state to go out there now. not when her hands are shaking, worried about scott. worried about them all. she just wants to know he's safe. wants to know that he's not going to go out there and get hurt and leave her alone. leave her alone again. ]
You can't go back out there. [ He feels strength in winning this mini-fight, but he knows it's not his place to brag. He offers what he can of a smile, though, eyes glancing down to see off-screen cuts have mainly healed. ]
I'll be up there in a bit. [ He's already shuffling to his feet, feeling like the weight of the entire mansion is on his shoulders. Not because there's really any pressure on him ( no more than usual, that is ), but his feet are faint and loose and his legs are tired from running, from standing up, from not having any rest. He feels like they might give out any second.
They won't. He needs to make up flights of stairs and find comfort in Allison's arms - maybe, or enjoyment at looking at her arms, or something. He needs to see her in person, alive and well, and then - fuck the hellhounds, they can have him. As long as Allison's safe, who cares? What else matters, other than Allison?
He breathes for a second, debating his next move. He decided to cut the emotions out because it hurt her, but really, he didn't honestly get to say his feelings. Not like how he wanted too. Not like how he needed too, before something awful actually happened, and he didn't get the chance to tell her again. He didn't want to be stuck there - wondering "what if". ]

[ she won't look at it like a fight. she can't, or else she'll start feeling defensive. like there's something else she needs to win to make up for it. instead she just watches him as closely as she can through the feed, and doesn't like what she sees. doesn't like how he wavers, how he looks tired and weak and if he looks like that, she can only imagine how he feels.
the idea of simply waiting for him is already starting to drive her crazy, but she made her not-promise. she said, without words, to make him agree to come see her. allison doesn't even have to think about it to know that as soon as she has him back here, in her sight and where she can at least trick herself into thinking she can protect him, she'll do anything to make him stay. just about-
there's a pause, and allison worries. did he see something? hear something? she opens her mouth to ask when he starts talking. starts laying his feelings and heart out in words, and she just listens.
because I love you.
it's telling that her first gut reaction - in the heat of the moment, instinctual - is to say me too. but something catches in her throat, and when she opens her mouth to speak, no sound comes out. or at least, it doesn't come out fast enough, because that's when scott hangs up on her. again. and if the processing of those four words wasn't currently lost somewhere between her head and her heart, she might have actually cared.
instead, she just puts away the device. slides it into a back pocket and heads to the door. scott said he was going to come up and meet her, but she never agreed to be waiting inside her room. and it's not like she didn't double line the section of the hallway surrounding the rooms of everyone from home. so she had a little extra salt, sue her. but that's where she goes, to stand outside of her door in the hall. her bow is still hung around her shoulder and she still has her quiver on - both thanks to that moment when she'd actually thought she was going out to do patrols with scott - and she just hasn't taken them off yet.
and the more she waits, the more anxious she gets, his words echoing through her mind just as much as the worry does. she crosses her arms over her chest to make her feel like she's doing something with them, and her leg starts to bounce a little as she stares down the hall. waits. ]
[ It takes thirty minutes at least - thirty minutes Scott's not proud of, but he'd rather arrive ten hours later than have Allison scraping his guts off the staircase. So he takes his time. He waits to heal, he tries to sniff out and sneakily shift by the invisible beasts, avoiding confrontation at all costs. Not like before, when he used to actively seek them out to destroy them - so other wouldn't fall victim to their viciousness.
But not now. Right now he's exhausted, and even he isn't dumb enough to think he'll make it out of a fight alive.
Plus, he doesn't want to keep Allison waiting.
So he trudges up the stairs, keeping his feet silent despite needle point pricks telling him to sit down and rest - that he needs rest, that he can't go on. Scott simply won't accept it. Not until he can tell Allison that he's sorry - so sorry - and he can whisper nothings into her ear about how everything will be okay. About how he'll protect her, thick and through thin.
Though that's not really a nothing. That's a definite something - something honest and true, like much anything Scott says. He'd protect her even if she didn't need it, didn't want it.
The timer ticks later than he'd like, but Scott manages a limp in through the hallway of all their rooms and he sees her - it's kind of like the world stops turning for a second. He feels like he hasn't had the pleasure of looking at her in years, but she's still so beautiful, so strong and defiant, he can't help the tired smile that forces its way to his mouth. His shirt is bloodied from already healed wounds - but an arm still tucks around his torso to cradle cracked and broken ribs.
He's mindful of the salt as he steps over it, slowly managing his way over towards her. His feet want to give out at the sight of her, but their job isn't fully done just yet. He's gotta a further path to make, but the finish line is in sight. ]
[ thirty minutes. she counts, while she's waiting. loses count three or four times and keeps telling herself 'five more minutes, I'll give him five more minutes'. it's the only reason she actually stays for that long, pacing and talking to herself and straining her hearing to see if she can pick up a yell, or a commotion, or something to let her know she needs to get down there. the look on scott's face keeps her rooted, that desperation and pain and because i love you. that's the only real reason she stays, because she knows if he says something like that he'll do everything in his power to make sure he does it.
alive. he better.
allison's on the edge of leaving, tense and panicked and ready to go, when he makes it up those stairs. she sees him, and stops - part of her needing to make sure she's not just hallucinating him ou of worry but that he's really there. but it's him, it's him, she knows this like a light going off and she takes off down the hall towards him. it's the relief, knowing he did make it and he is finally safe, that blinds her from the way he's holding his side. broken rib, bruised rib cage, whatever injury he's cradling she doesn't really notice because she's running towards him and meets him right as he steps over that salt line. throws her arms around his neck and all but jumps on him, her hold tight and secure because he is safe and secure.
she's smiling, but that's more to cover up the fact she might be relieved enough to cry. ]
[ There's a slight wince when Allison run into him - his ribs ache, body tired and tried and dressed in quickly disappearing bruises - but he can't be bothered to care. He's beaten and broken, but he doesn't have anything to complain about with Allison in his arms - and he squeezes her, lifting her up enough to twirl her around. Which is a little tiring, and a little corny maybe, but because I love you is a thing and yes, he does love her. A lot. And a little pain is fine by him, if the other option is letting her go. ]
I know, I'm sorry. [ Always apologizing. He sets Allison back down on her feet, but hardly leaves her alone - instead letting his hands move up to frame around her cheeks, pulling his head forward to press a lingering kiss on her forehead. He adores her and her gorgeous smile - the way she looked when she came towards him, like she should only ever come closer to him, not further away as she had been recently. Pink lips decorate her fore head - she'll probably hate it, probably pull away and walk back towards the room - but Scott has urges he can't fight, and the sweet scent of her shampoo pulls him in.
Everything about her pulls him in, actually. His lips leave her, but his hands stay and he hovers close beside Allison, bending his back a bit to get closer to her level. ]
I don't want you to be worried. Are you all right?
[ allison notice the wince, but she assumes it's an overall exhaustion response than anything specific. if she'd noticed, she'd probably have pulled away much quicker. might have pulled herself together a little earlier. but then scott picks her up and twirls her and for all of two seconds she can almost forget where they are. she has scott and scott is safe and lydia and stiles are okay too and it'll maybe all work out. ]
It's fine. [ always apologizing, always trying to make things okay. he sets her back down and she just watches him. follows him with her eyes as he frames her face and kisses her forehead and she actually feels herself falling too quickly back into this. falling back into the familiarity it brings and she actually finds herself wondering what she's doing, and why. with scott, with everything.
but for now, she's just going to reach up and hang her hands on the crooks of his elbows. smiles softly, closes her eyes when she feels his lips on her skin but looks back up at him when he pulls away. ]
Then don't do that. [ it's a lot more fond than before. ] But yeah, I'm fine. Just what you'd expect. [ she's scraped, scratched, bruised and battered, but overall okay. no broken bones, no sprained ligaments, nothing. but the smile only sticks around for a few moments before she really takes in his state of being. ] Please tell me you're healing.
[ The scrapes she does have are noted in the back of his mind - there's no sense in getting bent out of shape about them, but he'll insist on helping her clean them out and cover them up later. Later - because now she's in his arms and there isn't another thing he could ask for - except maybe the disappearance of certain invisible doggies, but. In a romantic sense there's nothing else he wants - nothing more than time around Allison, touching her with the brushes of his finger pads.
He probably shouldn't be locking eyes onto her lips - thinking about covering her in kisses and loving her in the way that he's sure no other guy will ever be capable of. No one's ever going to love Allison as much as Scott - on that, he's positive - and the temptation to reconcile their relationship is great and impulsive, but he manages to hold back.
Not the right time. Not the right place. ]
I'm healing. [ A nod, thumbs rubbing against her cheeks. ] It's a little slow, though. And my ribs are killer, but I can feel them coming back together. Werewolf, and all that.
[ it's the same with her. she could fuss over him and reprimand him and force him to get inside their room. she had decided to let him back out once he's healed, but no that she's finally got scott in front of her? she's starting to second guess her decision. his thumbs brush over her cheeks and she should pull away, she should get out of this moment before she falls to far, but she just...can't.
so instead allison just watches him. runs her eyes over his face and his shoulders and everything about him that she hasn't really had the chance to see since she got back.
he's grown. he's gotten so much older in the last four months in ways she's just now really getting to understand, and it's a little mesmerizing. it's probably why she doesn't notice him staring at her lips. not right now, at least. ]
Ribs? [ crap, suddenly she steps back but not so far that her hands leave him. they're on his shoulders but she's not longer pressed up against him. did she hurt him? god, if she hurt him she wouldn't be able to forgive herself. ] But really slowly. [ she frowns a little, worried, and now that she is a little further back from him she can really take a look at the damage. ] God, Scott. You just keep- [ instead of continuing, allison just shakes her head, her hands tightening on his shoulders. ]
[ He said it once and he'll say it again - he doesn't want to make her worry. That's actually one of the last things he wants to do, since she has so many other things she needs to think about, and he doesn't want to add to the list. He'd like to be the one thing that doesn't stress her out, if possible, though he's doing a pretty shit job of that. So Scott just shakes his head a little, hands continuing to hold at her cheeks, smiling a great bit happier than before. ]
It's going to be all right. I'm going to heal and - [ He taps his thumb against her, eyes leaving the contours of her lips to go look over the top of her head, searching for words he can't seem to find. Whatever he could say to reassure her - he'd do it, to hush her worries away into silent memories. He doesn't want her concerned. Just happy, always - with that beautiful smile that does wonders for his ego. I put that there, he likes to tell himself. All that beauty? Yeah, that's me.
He grins, looking back down to her eyes, moving a hand to shift some of her hair over her ear. ]
And I'm not going to leave you again. Okay? [ His eyes widen for a second though - ] Except - River's in the clinic, so I'm going to visit her a lot. But other than that, I'm here.
[ his hey draws her eyes up to his face, and she can't help the tired little smile she feels growing as he looks her over. they're quite the pair, you know. neither wanting the other to worry about them, and the other worrying more than they probably should. it's a vicious circle but there's not much either of them can really do.
but then allison realizes just how happy his smile is, and it feels a little misplaced and a little off and she almost questions him about it before he starts making promises. not going to leave you again and allison? allison actually laughs a little. still tired, but happier than before. relaxed. ]
Promise? [ and okay, she knew there was a catch, but it doesn't deter her smile. just makes her shake her head. ] I'll go with you. If it's only a visit, Stiles and Lydia will be okay. I just don't- [ the smile wavers, but only for a second. ] I just don't want you out there alone, okay? [ her eyes drift to his lips for a moment, mostly because they're just there, before finding his again. ] Please?
I promise. [ A little pause, and an awkward laugh. ] I, uh, told her about you a little bit. I bet she'd really want to meet you.
[ He wants to kiss her, he honestly does, but instead he pulls her in for another hug, laying his arms lazily across her shoulders. He's putting a bit too much pressure on her for it to be comfortable, but he's not exactly aware that he's doing it. Every muscle in his body is exhausted, and Allison is comfortable and sturdy - if given a moment too long in her arms, he might actually fall asleep on her.Which doesn't sound too bad, by his standards. ]
Can we go lay down? [ He doesn't pull away though, letting his nose soak up her scent. And then he realizes he said 'we' a second later, and Scott just jumps in her arms a bit. ] I mean, like, just me. Er - you can if you want to too, though. Right? Oh man.
[ the awkward laugh makes her smile a little, even if the idea of meeting river - when all she's seen her do is...yeah, is a little unnerving. ] What'd you tell her?
[ it doesn't bother her at all how comfortable or uncomfortable the hug might be. she's just glad to have him back and okay, and if that means putting up with a slight level of discomfort for a few minutes, she's okay. her arms go around him middle again but this time gently, aware of his bruised or broken or hurt ribs, her face in his shoulder. allison can almost feel the exhaustion seeping off him, and getting him inside the rooms and horizontal is suddenly at the top of her priority list.
right behind the whole 'surviving these hellhounds' thing. ]
Huh? [ truth be told, she doesn't even notice the 'we' in there, but when she feels him jump she looks up, momentarily worried despite how quickly the worry disappears. she's smiling again, just because he looks so worried and so scott and it's just. ] Yeah. Let's go get you laying down and I'll decide what I want to do then.
[ though laying down with him really doesn't sound like a bad idea. it's too bad she needs to stay on alert for stiles and lydia's sake as well. if scott's actually going to rest, it'll be up to them to keep everyone safe. ]
Good things! [ His own sort of dismissal. C'mon Allison, you can probably figure out all the things he's told her.
He's happy his suggestion went over well enough - despite his not-so-suave demeanor, awkward presentation. There's a grin against her, hands coming up to hold her head again, using it as some leverage to pull himself off of her. Which is difficult for reasons - mainly because he's tired and she's comfortable, but also because this is Allison, and he's always craving to be closer to the comfort of her arms. Even when they were together and she'd fall asleep on him, it was difficult to pull away. Difficult to leave her.
But he does - somewhat, at least. He shifts an arm to lay over her shoulders, leaning on her more than he'd like, but he needs the extra help. He needs help, which isn't something Scott frequents to admit, but. ]
Help me out a little bit?
[ He thinks it might help her out, too. Just a bit. To know that, at least right now, Scott needs her and he's willing to admit it. ]
[ but it's true, she has a pretty good idea about what he probably told river and it only kind of makes her blush. and smile. and feel all around kind of mushy. which is saying something when they're all basically in a war zone, but that's just scott.
allison waits for scott to move first before she follows, not sure if any of her own sudden movements would end up hurting him even more. and while she might have been totally alright with just standing there for a bit longer, it was her suggestion to get moving. it's not until he has his arm over her shoulder that she turns, carefully getting her arm around his waist and letting him lean against her side. ]
Yeah, here- [ there's just the slightest bit more movement on her part before she's comfortable enough to start moving, definitely feeling better that scott's at least letting her help. she waits for him to get settled, and then starts walking off towards where their rooms are. ] Stiles and Lydia are in our room. [ that didn't take long, the 'my' changing to 'our'. and as awful as this place might be...at least lydia's somewhere she can watch. ] Do you...?
[ she'll give him the option of going to the same room as them - where he could possibly end up dealing with more fussing and more questions - or his own. she's locked down both enough that she'd be fine with either. ]

it's telling that her first gut reaction - in the heat of the moment, instinctual - is to say me too. but something catches in her throat, and when she opens her mouth to speak, no sound comes out. or at least, it doesn't come out fast enough, because that's when scott hangs up on her. again. and if the processing of those four words wasn't currently lost somewhere between her head and her heart, she might have actually cared.
instead, she just puts away the device. slides it into a back pocket and heads to the door. scott said he was going to come up and meet her, but she never agreed to be waiting inside her room. and it's not like she didn't double line the section of the hallway surrounding the rooms of everyone from home. so she had a little extra salt, sue her. but that's where she goes, to stand outside of her door in the hall. her bow is still hung around her shoulder and she still has her quiver on - both thanks to that moment when she'd actually thought she was going out to do patrols with scott - and she just hasn't taken them off yet.
and the more she waits, the more anxious she gets, his words echoing through her mind just as much as the worry does. she crosses her arms over her chest to make her feel like she's doing something with them, and her leg starts to bounce a little as she stares down the hall. waits. ]
C'mon Scott. C'mon.

Hey, pretty lady.
[ smiles?????? ]
action » okay c:
alive. he better.
allison's on the edge of leaving, tense and panicked and ready to go, when he makes it up those stairs. she sees him, and stops - part of her needing to make sure she's not just hallucinating him ou of worry but that he's really there. but it's him, it's him, she knows this like a light going off and she takes off down the hall towards him. it's the relief, knowing he did make it and he is finally safe, that blinds her from the way he's holding his side. broken rib, bruised rib cage, whatever injury he's cradling she doesn't really notice because she's running towards him and meets him right as he steps over that salt line. throws her arms around his neck and all but jumps on him, her hold tight and secure because he is safe and secure.
she's smiling, but that's more to cover up the fact she might be relieved enough to cry. ]
Took you long enough. God, Scott. You scared me.
action » it's a lil impossible but ok

Werewolf, and all that.

so instead allison just watches him. runs her eyes over his face and his shoulders and everything about him that she hasn't really had the chance to see since she got back.
he's grown. he's gotten so much older in the last four months in ways she's just now really getting to understand, and it's a little mesmerizing. it's probably why she doesn't notice him staring at her lips. not right now, at least. ]

But other than that, I'm here.

but then allison realizes just how happy his smile is, and it feels a little misplaced and a little off and she almost questions him about it before he starts making promises. not going to leave you again and allison? allison actually laughs a little. still tired, but happier than before. relaxed. ]
] Please?

Right? Oh man.
action » doki doki o‿o✿
Sound like a plan?

action » c: OH WAIT I HAVE THE PERFECT ICON
